SPECIAL EVENTS AT GRACE
Saturday, 10 January 2009 21:58

RECENT EVENTS AT GRACE  (August 23, 2010)

Things have been pretty active here at GRACE since our Patriotic Service.  On Sunday, June 27 Bro. Jack Holden and his family stayed with us and Bro. Holden preached in our morning and evening services.  His messages were timely and several folks spoke of the help they received from God's Word being preached.  Sister Holden and Rebekah sang several songs that were a blessing to help complement both the spirit in the services and the messages.  We are grateful to the Holden family for being a blessing to us and a help to our church.
We've also conducted two SUPER SATURDAY SERVICES (July 24 & August 21) and what great days they were.  Our people put so much work and effort into making these days a success and and they generally run very smoothly.  The games, the gifts, the preaching and teaching all work to make for SUPER SATURDAYS at GRACE!  A special thank you to Bro. Jeremy Johnson, one of the preachers in our church, for preaching a great message at August's SUPER SATURDAY!  He encouraged the young people to stay faithful and to trust the Lord with the situations they face in life just as Daniel did.  If God could take care of Daniel, He can take care of us, too.
We were also blessed to have the Harman Rutledge family with us on Wednesday, August 18 for our mid-week service.  Bro. Rutledge and his family sang a couple of songs and presented their burden for the people of Thailand.  Then Bro. Rutledge preached a great message to encourage us to get under the burden of getting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.  For more information on this fine family, check out their website at www.totheuttermost.org

PATRIOTIC SERVICE   (July 14, 2010)

On Saturday, June 26, 2010, our adults and young people presented a program entitled "God Bless America."  We had a great day!  The day was centered around honoring our military personnel for the sacrifices they have made to keep our country free.  We had representatives from each branch of service and some of our local dignitaries showed up in support of the day.  It was our great honor to have the Mayor of Warrenton, Mr. Tony Mimbs, and the Mayor of Camak, Mrs. Brenda Cooper, in attendance for the service.  Our church gave each representative of the military and our local dignitaries a small gift as a token of our appreciation for their service and  our church received a Resolution from Mayor Mimbs, honoring our church for honoring the military personnel.  WOW!  We are so thankful for the honor and we display the plaque in our church foyer!  Thank you, Mayor Mimbs, for your kindness!
We also had letters from several of our local, state and federal leaders honoring our military personnel that were read in our service and now displayed in our foyer.  We have letters on display from Governor Sonny Perdue, US Senator Johnny Isakson, US Representative John Barrow, State Senator Johnny Grant, State Representative Helen Sistie Hudson, Warren County Commission Chairman John Graham and Warren County Commissioner Rita Johnson.  We are thankful and honored that these leaders would take the time to send a short note of gratitude and appreciation to our military personnel and to help make our day such a blessing.
At Grace Baptist Church, we do not have special services without preaching!  Bro. Jack Holden, missionary to the Hispanic people of America and Pastor South's former pastor, preached a great message about David, The Man Who Ran.  He preached about how that David was told by his father to run some items to his brethren in the war and when David heard that, he never stopped running.  When he arrived at the battle, he stood for righteousness and stood for God and ran for a cause, into the battle with Goliath.  He encouraged us all to stay with and run for the cause of Christ.  Thank you, Bro. Holden for a great message and for helping make this day great!
Of course, the day could not have gone off without a hitch had it not been for the fine folks of Grace Baptist Church.  It was your diligence and hard work that made things go so well.  What a great church we have here at Grace!

SUPER SATURDAY V  (June 2, 2010)

May’s SUPER SATURDAY SERVICE was as awesome as the others. While the crowd was a bit off, we still enjoyed a great time of preaching, food, fun and fellowship!

The two young men who devised the games for those in attendance did a great job. Part of the competition was that each team had a bucket full of water at one end of a course and an empty bucket at the other end. The goal for the teams was to fill the empty bucket with the water from the full bucket. The trick was that they had to do it with a sponge! It was fun to watch the people try to catch the water in their hands!

Because of a full month in June, our next SUPER SATURDAY SERVICE will be in July!  Keep checking for more updates!

SUPER SATURDAY IV (April 20, 2010)

April 17, 2010 will always be remembered.  What a great Super Saturday!  We had our highest attendance ever (62 total - 39 guests/23workers) and we also had two people make professions of faith in Jesus Christ!   After hearing a message about being a light for Jesus Christ, a 10 year old girl came forward and, after being counseled by one of the ladies of our church, asked the Lord to save her.  Also, on the other side of the auditorium, one of the mothers who had brought her children that day also came forward and one of our ladies was able to lead her to the Lord.  You cannot ask for a better day than that!

The games and lunch weren't half bad either.  We had some sandwiches and chips for lunch along with kool-aid and cookies.  The games were all ordered by two of our young men.  They had a tug o' war, relay races and candy for the winners!  Everyone went home happy and a little weary after the day was done.

We are looking forward to next month and can't wait to see what God will do in May!

REVIVAL SERVICES (April 5, 2010)

On March 29 – 31, Grace Baptist Church hosted revival service with Bro. Terry Simpson who is the pastor of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Weddington, NC.  Bro. Simpson preached a great message each night and the Lord used them to stir and convict our hearts.  His wife, Sister Rhonda Simpson and their daughter Natalie also provided special music each night.  Their songs were a great complement to the services as well as the messages preached by Bro. Simpson.  Several of the folks at Grace commented how that they were thankful for the Lord allowing Bro. Simpson to be with us.  They are looking forward to him being with us again as soon as the Lord allows!  Thank you, Bro. Simpson, for allowing the Lord to use you!

Also, Sister Simpson spoke to our ladies on Tuesday morning and several ladies testified of how her topic was a special blessing and help to them.  Her willingness to be a help was demonstrated because she wasn’t asked to speak to the ladies until Monday afternoon.  Thank you, Sister Simpson, for being willing to be a help to our ladies and our church!

SUPER SATURDAY III   (March 30, 2010)

On March 27, 2010, Grace Baptist Church hosted its third Super Saturday Service. What a great day we had! The weather was perfect for Super Saturday III and we also tried a different format for the day. Instead of having classes for the different age groups, we started off with our time of fun songs and then went straight into the preaching service. A strong salvation message was preached and the Gospel was given clearly. After the service and the altar call, two of our young men supervised our game outside. They were able to play three separate games: egg relay, inner-tube race and dizzy bat relay. It was funny to see some of the children (and adults) try to keep their balance and run in the dizzy bat relay! After the game time, a hot dog lunch was served and a gift was given to everyone that attended.

Super Saturday is always an exhausting day but it is always an enjoyable day! We plan to have another one in April. Keep a check on our website for the date of Super Saturday IV!

  LADIES FELLOWSHIP (February 27, 2010)

On February 27, the ladies of Grace Baptist Church hosted a ladies meeting that emphasized Healing for our Hurts.  Two very special speakers gave testimonies and true life experiences of how God was able to help them overcome some very painful hurts they had experienced.  It was very beneficial for those who attended to hear that the Bible is a relevant book for the last days hurts that we may experience.  Also, knowing that God is keenly aware of our struggles and is available to help us live victoriously over those struggles, was a great comfort for the ladies.
A special thank you is in order to Sister Jenny Philbeck, wife of Pastor Barry Philbeck of Love Valley Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, NC and Sister Grace Shiflett, wife of Pastor Stacey Shiflett of Pleasantview Baptist Church in Taylors, SC, for all that they did to make this day great!  Thank you ladies for your help, kind words and testimonies you gave!

SECOND SUPER SATURDAY SERVICE(February 20, 2010)

The second SUPER SATURDAY SERVICE was held on February 20 and was just as good as the first!  Though we had about the same number of people (55), we had some new faces as well as some returning folks.  All seemed to enjoy themselves through the class time and games.  In the preaching service, a message was brought entitled The Burden of the Lost which dealt with the reality of hell.  In the service, several young people and teens were under conviction and had many questions after the service. We are in the process of following up on many of these young people in hopes that they will be saved!
Game time was supervised by two of our young men.  The participants played two games the month: Flag Tag and Snakes and Worms.  In Flag Tag, each participant placed a strip of cloth in their coat pocket or collar and the other folks had to try to pull the flag from your possession, without touching, while protecting their own.  The one who had the most flags at the end of the time limit was declared the winner.
In the second game, pieces of yarn of two different colors were hidden throughout the property of Grace.  The young people were divided into two teams and assigned a particular color.  The object of the game was to go throughout the property, find the yarn and bring it to a centralized place and tie the pieces of yarn together.  The team with the longest strand of yarn wins!  It was amazing to watch the "spirit of competition" arise in the adults as well as the children.
Our next SUPER SATURDAY promises to be just as much fun.  It is tentatively scheduled for March 27, 2010 at 10am.  We will be using a little different schedule of events but should be just as active and exciting as the first two.  Hope to see you there!

FIRST EVER SUPER SATURDAY SERVICE (January 16, 2010)

Grace Baptist Church recently hosted our first ever Super Saturday Service and what a great day it was.  We went out visiting on Thursday before and signed up adults, teens and children to be a part of a special church service on the following Saturday.  We signed up 53 people to attend our Super Saturday Service with a total of 22 arriving on our van for the service that morning.  (We did make two trips to pick the people up.)
When the folks arrived, we had some "action"songs (like Father Abraham, Jesus is the Rock of My Salvation, etc.), then went into age respective classes and each teacher taught a lesson with a strong salvation emphasis.  After that we had a regular preaching service, gave out some prizes, had lunch and played a few games.  After the service was over, we gave each first time visitor a copy of The Gospel According to John and Romans and each Sunday School teacher had a list of contacts for their class.  Since then, we've been following up with visits and we've had a few of them visit for our Sunday Morning services!
We are looking forward to our second SUPER SATURDAY SERVICE on February 20, 2010.
